Allow me to pontificate about Cotto vs. D. Vaca
I come to this thread only to speak La Verdad.
I know many of you are wondering why in the ****** Mary's sweet poontang I'd pick El Dinero to retire Cotto.
Some label me a hatur or Rican's or of Cotto himself but this couldn't be further from the truth. I'm not picking El Dinero cuz' I think he's a better fighter, my reasoning has moar to do with the chronology and trajectory of their respective careers.
Personally I like Cotto much moar, I love his career, I think he's one of the most hardcore throwback's we've seen in a while, this despite the fact that he backpeddles and takes knees when the going gets tough.
I even made a thread circa 2009 calling him boxings "Hardcore Champion", a reference to "Mankind/Cactus Jack" from the WWF days of kicking ass on a bed of thumbtacks and aksing for moar.
You had to be there.
But I give him a pass on the knee taking and backpeddlling cuz' he did that against the fighter of the decade and against one of the most hardcore of the decade. Nothing to be ashamed of really.
But facts are facts. Dinero Vaca represents kryptonite to a fighter like Cotto who's on his way out, been in massive wars throughout his career and fights with his style.
He's on his way up, and Cotto is on his way out. That's just physics.
No, not even his Superman panties can save him.
Dinero is big, has a solid chin, a pressure style, good punching power, YOUTH and most importantly, DOES NOT PANIC in the ring and stays cool at all times.
This means that he's not going to get flustered or tired, especially since Cotto is much smaller. Does Cotto have one last push in him? Maybe, but I don't even think that will be enough. I think Dinero outboxes him, outpunches him, outworks him and stops him.
Not cuz' he's better necessarily, but at this particular point in time, Cotto is at a huge disadvantage with all the baggage he's carrying.
Once Cotto realizes he can't hurt Vaca, he'll do what he knows, which is prolong the inevitable knockout at the hands of a big Mexican.
