I think there's more to this decision than meets the eye. With no venue still picked or announced for Ward vs. Dirrell something tells me after reading about this decision that, that fight quite possibly isn't going to happen. I think the decision adds some excitement to things though since the final could potentially be a unification bout! We'll see what happens though.Last edited by myau1; 10-05-2010, 10:18 PM.Comment

Neither of these bums deserves to be fighting for a title after their respective losses.. Especially the WBC title... Both of them were disappointing. Carl's game has been exposed and even in his "win" against Dirrell he fared terribly and got a hometown nod. Also you have the fact that Ward beat the man, who beat the man, in Mikkel Kessler. Then you have Abraham who was losing clearly to Dirrell in a lopsided fight where he resorted to an illegal blow even after he started coming on strong at the end. Bottom line is, the WBC title should be at stake for Ward v Dirrell... PERIOD. Sulaiman is a jokeComment

Greedy? Ward and Dirrell have trained hard for what they have pulled off thus far and anything short of fighting for both titles is a slap to their faces. Neither Abraham nor Froch deserve to be fighting for a title RIGHT NOW. They are both coming off losses. They should have swung both belts in the direction of Ward v Dirrell and made the winner of Abraham v Froch come try and take them at the very end of the tournament. It takes away from what Ward and Dirrell have done so far.. They ACTUALLY deserve to be fighting for 2 titles, and it would have added to the fanfare and prestige that their fight actually deserves. I just don't see how you make either Froch or Abraham WBC champ after this fight, when clearly they are realistically the #2-4 at best and Ward- Dirrell are truly #1-3 at worst. ...But then again my last name isn't Sulaiman.Ward and Dirrell already have the WBA strap on the line, having a vacant title at stake would been too greedy imo.Comment

You can't say Dirrell beat Froch because he didn't beat Froch while all Ward does is cheat.Greedy? And since Ward and Dirrell are too scared to fight one another on neutral ground that validates my arguments even more.Comment

It doesn't really matter to me which fight gets sanctioned for the WBC title, because as long as it stays in the tournament, the winner of the super-six will have unified two titles, making him the number 1 man at 168. Bute's resume of late does not justify him being labelled the best. He may have the talent, but he does not have an arguement as much as the super-six winner will.

I guess it could be argued Froch did more damage but Kessler's work-rate was higher throughout the fightGreat news, I thought Froch should have left Denmark with his WBC strap anyway, even if anyone disagrees they have to admit it was a close fight that could have gone either way so its only fitting that Froch gets the 1st shot at the belt if Kessler has relinquished it.
Dirrell robbed Abraham of a fair fight by shamefully pretending he was injured, Ward robbed Kessler of a fair fight by headbutting two holes above his eyes so he couldn't see. They deserve fcuk all, they're cheats.Neither of these bums deserves to be fighting for a title after their respective losses.. Especially the WBC title... Both of them were disappointing.
