    LAS VEGAS, NEV. – World amateur sensation JESSE MAGDALENO signed a long-term exclusive promotional contract with Top Rank today. Magdaleno, who campaigned at 119 pounds through most of his career, leaves the amateur ranks with a 120-16 record and six major national titles, including the National Golden Gloves and the U.S. Nationals.

    Seems like Top Rank's strategy is to sign young talent at ages 17-18 (Benavidez, Magdaleno, etc) which is smart. TR has built a lot of boxing superstars from the ground up.

      this kid has much more talent than his brother, who was also an accomplished amateur.
      we'll see if that power translates cuz his brother cant punch for sht.

      btw, if u dont know, jesse won a very tight am fight vs highly touted rau'shee warren last yr en route to winning a nat'l title.

        He's got a lot more power than his older brother. Both the younger ones do.
        They all fight southpaw but Marco (the youngest) is the only one who is naturally a lefty.
        I think Marco & Jesse have a really great chance of making it big. I wish all 3 of them the best of luck though, I used to go to the same gym with them and they are all great people.
