Well defining Mexican as a race is very difficult. Most Mexicans have Native, African, and European blood. Canelo clearly has some European blood in him, but he is was born and raised in Mexico, hence he is a Mexican.
But yeah, "Mexican" isnt really a race any more than "American" is, unless you mean pure blood Native North Americans, and there arent many of those left.

He definitely has SOME white ancestry, otherwise he wouldnt have the red hair. Not altogether white, though, take a look at his family and they are all brown. Its really just a mixed gene pool.
Like you said though, born and raised in Mexico. Kid is a Mexican.
