Skills wise it isn't even close. This Khan beats any Hatton.
When Amir beats Maidana, I think their resumes are on par.
hahahaha funny ****. maidana isnt even that good. so who is on a par with tszyu on khans rceord?! prescott? and your right about the skills, imagine khan trying to be a face first brawler like hatton was, im sure khan would reach 45-2! not.
Hatton is a great character as well as an excellent boxer. He has a unique and entertaining style and only lost to the very best. Khan will unquestionably surpass his achievements in the ring but he'll never be as popular as The Hitman.
I don't like how Ricky ducked Cotto for Maussa and Witter for Lazcano, he could have had a better resume. (Although he doesn't beat Cotto, even at 140).
The Castillo was old and shot is a myth. He was 33, for a Mexican style fighter particularly, it's not that old. I'm not saying he was prime, but only within a matter of 2 and a half years before he had wins over Casamayor, Julio Diaz and Diego Corrales.
As for Tsyzu, yeah he was past his best, not strictly down to his age as it was inactivity but just 6 months before he fought Hatton, KO'd Sharmba Mitchell in 3. Hatton's style was all wrogn for Tsyzu as well. But Hatton was quite an underdog going into that fight. It was easy calling Tszyu shot after the fight, but at the time he was expected to beat Ricky....world level was suppose to be a step too far for Ricky and he owned the night.
Urango went on to become IBF champ after Ricky beat him.
Collazo, Hatton looked terrible but did well to grind out a win at a weight he had never fought at before against a decent Welterweight.
Maussa, yeah, he's shít, Cotto already took his 0 and Hatton should have fought Cotto instead.
Malignaggi, at the time was considered Hatton's biggest threat in the division. Some people tipped him out box Ricky to a decision. Malignaggi had only lost once before that giving a good account of himself against Cotto. Hatton was the first to stop Paulie too.
But if Khan beats Maidana then the Bradley and Alexander winner, then yeah you can consider him a better 140er for sure. Hatton didn't fight any good slick fighters at 140, he openly ducked a few names as well. If Hatton wasn't too busy licking his wounds after the Pacman fight he could have got himself back in the 140 fold and beat young Bradley and young Alexander.
Too late now, if he comes back, they all beat him. He's left it far too long.
Ehh...khan still has to prove himself. I would say tzszu > kotenlik anyday
Prime Tszyu or Hatton eat up the current junior welters easy. Alot of this is being said with the assumption that he gets passed Maidana, and i dont think he will. Even if he does, Maidana is a B level fighter (thats not to say i dont love watching him fight, i wish him all the best and he is probably my fave jr welter outside of Alexander) whos biggest win is a stoppage of an unproven Ortiz via 3 knockdowns.
