no excuses for margs, but its reality, if a fighter can easily make 147, but refuses to give in to agree to fight at 149, than you have to make the conclussion that he can not make 147 as comfortable as he used to

I'm gonna say the same things I said on the other thread.

After a few fights, I could understand Pac's team for doing this honestly. If you try to look at his past fights, there doesn't seem to be tune-up fights, but I think the catchweight fights are like his tuneups because I think they do this to test the waters. I think he wanted to try if he can do good in WW that's why he had the fight with Cotto at 145 and after that fight, he actually fought Clottey at 147. And the fight with Clottey may be the reason why they wanted to test Pac at JM because Clottey ballooned into a JM at fight night. I think they just throw the belt in there for intrigue and to sell the fight, for business reasons. Ultimately, I think the real reason is to prepare for a possible Mayweather fight at 154. It's known that Mayweather proposed a 154 fight in the first negotiation. Since Pacquiao is unsure yet if he could fight at that weight, he declined the fight at that weight. I guess they see some advantages in actually fighting at that weight. The higher you go, the slower you get. So although Mayweather will be bigger at that weight, he probably would slow a notch and that's when it get's interesting. If Pacquiao performs well in JM, when/if negotiations go at it again, they could propose a 154 fight and may even suggest that Mayweather is at the advantage at this weight. But then again, Mayweather might take another vacation if Pac knocks Margarito out cold. So, we will have to wait I guess.

its for a belt because either arum negotiated or the boxing organization offered it. arum, by negotiating, is making a very sound management decision, if in any case pacquiao wins again hell be making history, if margo, on the other hand, is the winner hell have a champs belt which top rank hopefully can somehow redeem a part of margos credibility. while pacquiao can go back down and fight at ww again. in offering the belt, the boxing body will of course earn its sanctioning fee and the honor of being mentioned as facilitator for a historic event if pacquiao wins. its really a win win situation anyways. hell with those who says this should be, twenty years from now their opinion wont matter as it doesnt matter now, because a fight is a fight is a fight,......... and not a vacation (curaheeee.... LOLs sorry i cant help it, i just got to include the last part)

the catchweights are ****** and annoying.

if youre going to fight for a higher weight class belt, then have the proper weight limits.
I dont mind the fight, but this whole 150lb for a Light Middleweight belt thing is absolutely crap.

belts are so meaningless nowadays anyway though.
