JMM - Rafael will not retire if he loses to Juan Manuel Lopez

"I don't see him as being close to his retirement, if he does lose it will be in a close hard fought match and there would be a rematch."

Translated from last fridays Golpe a Golpe segment.

For JMM to say this as his brother who's closer to him than any other reporter, what might him saying this mean? Is Rafa feeling great/looking good in training camp? Who knows.

I hope Marquez knocks out that cherrypicking *** Lopez. That filipino boxer stunned Lopez in his last fight, I'd imagine Marquez should be able to destroy this *** but who knows how much Marquez really has left.

I'm rooting for Marquez in this fight.

I'm a fan of Juanma, but Marquez is a legend in my eyes.

I wonder if that would still be the case if Rafa was to be blown out or brutally beaten.

I feel the same way. Juanma still will have plenty of time to make his legacy. He's the real thing. One last big win for Raffy makes him an automatic for the HOF, probably first ballot too.

Doubt that happens since Juan Ma was going life and death with a bum in Mtgawa and almost KTFO. This fight is only 50-50 due to Rafas old age.

if the fight is competitive and and not a complete blow out, then i see no need for him to retire.

If he shows that he can go with these young guys and doesnt look like a washed up fighter then he would deserve a rematch or at least another big fight.

I'd like to see Rafa vs Chris John or Cab. If he does beat Juan Ma I can't see him beating Gamboa.

Rafa vs Chris John is very interesting to me too. 2 really good boxers going at it. John is tough but Rocky had him hurt late so i could see Rafa doing the same without losing every round up to that point like Rocky did.
