I'll have to check this out to see what's so interesting about Ward's story. Especially without Gatti.

The Gatti part of Ward's life would not translate to the film world. It was three fights, with Ward only winning the first. Other than that they were amazing fights, and Ward subsequently helped train Gatti, there is no drama - they were always amicable with eachother and there were no titles at stake.
It doesn't translate for a movie.
What makes a movie is Micky Ward rising the hard way, with his drug addict brother to weigh him down, getting a shot at the 'title' and thus saving his brother, taking him along for the ride. That's drama.
Gatti Trilogy makes great fights for boxing fans...no good for movie drama.
Anyway, as I said, 100% no Gatti in this movie.Comment

Thanks for heads up on Gatti.
There seems to be a fight in the trailer when Micky gets beat up by a bigger guy who he says has 20 pounds on him.
Can I assume that's Vince Philips?Comment
