..Is 2010 As Bad As People Make It Seem?...

You continuously see threads/posts with people saying this year is so awful and no big fights happened. I agree about the big fights thing, but was this year really that bad?

    Fights So Far:
    Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey
    Miguel Cotto-Yuri Foreman
    Floyd Mayweather-Shane Mosley
    Juan Manuel Marquez-Juan Diaz II
    Amir Khan-Paulie Malignaggi
    Sergio Martinez-Kelly Pavlik
    Mikkel Kessler-Carl Froch
    Andre Dirrel-Arthur Abraham
    Andre Ward-Allan Green
    Abner Mares-Yhonny Perez
    Jean Pascal-Chad Dawson
    Fernando Montiel-Hozumi Hasegawa
    Ivan Calderon-Giovanni Segura

Also, Wladimir Klitschko defended twice, as well. Out of these fights, we had TRUE world title fights around 6 times. Not all of these bouts are the biggest fights of all time. But, they are quality bouts and quite a few of them were fun to watch.

We also have Pacquiao-Margarito, Martinez-Williams II, Juanma Lopez-Rafa Marquez, Danny Green-BJ Flores could be fun, Juan Manuel Marquez-Michael Katsidis, Amir Khan-Marcos Maidana, another Wladimir Klitschko defense, Pascal-Hopkins, Darchinyan-Mares, Perez-Agbeko II, and a solid Pacquiao-Margarito undercard featuring Pavlik moving up in weight, Guillermo Rigondeaux-Ricardo Cordoba and Jesus Soto Karass-Mike Jones.

Also, another bout for Celestino Caballero, David Haye, Jorge Linares and Vitali Klitschko.

Not the worst year I've ever seen. Not the best, either. But a good one.

I would need a list of big fights from other years to say by comparison, but you know a factor is how those fights turned out whether they were entertaining or not.

Many of the ones on your list just didn't deliver what ppl wanted.

I can understand that, as well. But when Oscar lost to Mayweather, it was a year still full of big fights that weren't incredible by any means. And the same people who hate this year, seemed to think that the year was incredible. Yet the biggest fight that year, (obviously Mayweather-De La Hoya) was an average fight.

      Cotto-Foreman, Mayweather-Mosley, Martinez-Pavlik, Froch-Kessler, Mares-Perez, Hasegawa-Montiel and Calderon-Segura were all exciting fights in different ways.

The year had upsets, big wins, some scandal doesn't always hurt, the two biggest names/best fighters fighting, title defenses and we crowned a champion at 175 pounds again.

I get what you're saying, but it wasnt that bad of a year is all.

People are disappointed because Pac-Floyd didn't happen. Despite the fights that have happened and will happen, THE fight not happening is a big blow.

And it's the way the fight didn't happen, not just the fact that it didn't.

It's been a so-so year for the sport. It happens. 09 was a great year. So was 08. But lulls happen.

The only people who think 2010 is bad are the posters who only follow the most popular fighters.

2010 has been a great year. Lots of fights. Lots of fights to come.
