    Showtime > HBO

Honestly speaking, I think the position has shifted. The quality of fights on Showtime is much better than HBO now. Just look at the lineup. Though I think HBO has better lighting and commentating from Lampley. I can't stand Larry Merchant and that annoying bastard Lederman.

Is Michael Buffer an HBO commentator only? I like him a lot more than Jimmy Lennon Jr.

    Thoughts?

Showtime is closing the gap rapidly on HBO; HBO is relying on big names, names that are close to retirement at that. Showtime has overall more competitive fights and is showing boxing more frequently than HBO.

Between now and Oct. 8, HBO has:

        Vargas/Castillejo & Juarez/Soto - Aug 20
        Morales/Raheem & Pacquiao/Vazquez - Sept 10
        Barrera/Peden & Mosley/Cruz - PPV Sept 17
        Cotto/Branco & (likely Peter/W. Klitschko - not on HBO's site yet, though) - Sept 24
        Tarver/Jones III - PPV Oct. 1

        Showtime has:

        Lacy/Reid - Aug 6
        Rahman/Barrett, Saleta/McCall, Mayorga/Piccirillo, & Collazo/Gonzalez - PPV Aug 13
        Briggs/Mercer, Bell/Rothmann & Tua/Salif - PPV Aug 26
ShoBox - Sept 1, probably again before Oct. 8 as well...
        Santos/Rivera, Liakhovich-Beck - Sept 3
        Toney/Guinn - Oct 1
        Corrales/Castillo II, Arce/Hussein II & Chavez Jr-vs. TBA - PPV Oct 8

Showtime apparently wasn't just running off at the mouth when they started advertising themselves as the #1 Boxing Network - apparently it was a goal...

Buffer is HBO exclusively, I believe - I haven't seen him on any other network recently. Lennon does nearly every Showtime event, including ShoBox, and is also on Fox Sports a lot...

slavik18 youhave brought up an excellent point. I think that Showtime has closed the gap considerably on HBO. The caliber of fights that are on Showtime are rivalling its sister channel, and if HBO doesn't watch it, Showtime may be on the cusp of moving out of the shadow. Showtime on the move!!!!

You probably would see Harold Lederman on a street... buying some crack before an HBO broadcast.

He's the reason why agism(discrimmination against old people) exists...
