LOL, this was reported today:
TAMPA - Robin Reid's fight for respect took one step forward and two steps back at Thursday's news conference before his IBF super middleweight title fight against St. Petersburg's Jeff Lacy.
A day after complaining about communication flaws -- the Briton from Runcorn, England, contended he wasn't told about a conference call until the last minute and that local promoters didn't offer him suitable lodging and workout facilities -- Reid was fuming again after the news conference.
What began as a lovefest between the two fighters ended up rubbing Reid the wrong way. Promoter Gary Shaw complimented Reid as a fighter and insisted no one in Lacy's camp was looking past him toward a unification bout against WBO super middleweight champ Joe Calzaghe.
But moments later, Shaw gave Reid a white T-shirt, saying it was a gesture of respect. However, Reid didn't take too kindly to the gift, which had the words "I went all the way to America and all I got was knocked out by Jeff Lacy" written in white letters over an American flag.
"That's one last nail in the coffin," Reid said after the news conference -- he didn't make a public comment during the news conference. "… I still respect Jeff Lacy as a fighter and I respect Gary Shaw. But if those were my people, I would tell them there's no need for things like that. I'm a gentleman. He's a supposed gentleman. His people are supposed gentlemen. My people spoke highly of him. We didn't say we're going to do this or we're going to do that. All we said is that I'm going to win on Saturday, whether it's going to be by knockout or by points. That's all I need to say about winning the fight.
"I think it's a sad situation," Reid added. "They talk about, 'We respect you,' but everything they just said about respecting me just went out the window when he pulled that out of his bag."
lol, come on Robin! take a joke! (and the truth
)
