Why would weight be an issue when you want the MW titles and therefore fighting @ MW?

"It's at 157 because we didn't have a choice," DiBella said. "Williams wanted the catch weight. There was an issue on the weight and we gave on the weight."

I still dont get it..whats the point of forcing Martinez to come in at 157? And how does a fighter who brings nothing to the table boss the MW champ around like that?

Pwill as stated wants to stay at 147.

      147 to 160 is huge.

and Martinez has decided to keep the WBC 160 title.

Martinez is not the youngest anymore and to make weight is not easy and it cost much time and energie beside the training.
Pwill on the other hand has struggeled with his last 2 fights at big weight.

plus Martinez need to fight now to earn money.

so I can understand the catchweight which is legit.

I still commend the fighters for making it happen.

157 won't be difficult for either fighter to make. It's a concession that had to be made in order for the fight to happen, so I'm ok with it (even though I'm not a fan of catchweights for title fights).

I guess this'll shut up a few of the f**kin whiners on the site who **** on Manny.

          DLH did it.
          SRL did it.
          Manny did it.
          Punisher is gonna do it.

Catchweights have been around since multiple-division champs.

I lost a lot of respect of PW with that punk move.

A Champion should NEVER allow a challenger to dictate more limits than the limits of his weight class.

PW was a punk and Martinez was weak for allowing him to pull that sht and A CHAMPION should always behave as the CHAMPION.

I really think it's irrelevant for the most part... I don't think 157 effects either fighter.

I still stand by the fact that the champion should be able to weigh at the weight limit of the division he defends.

But, Martinez is the Jr MW and MW champ... 157 is dead lock in the middle, I dont think it will do anything...

Without Pacquaio setting the standard, Paul Williams would have never asked for a catchweight.
