    Can Khan Stop Maidana?

I've been reading a lot of posts in which people don't believe that Khan can go 12 rounds without getting caught or that he will simply box his way around Maidana in 12. Since when did Maidana have George Chuvalo's or even Paulie Malignaggi's chin?

I don't think Khan is going to stop him, but it sure as hell wouldn't surprise me if he did. Maidana got knocked down from punches he didn't see against Ortiz. I can envision a round where he's clipped by short, accurate punches and is knocked down a bunch of times leading to a ref stoppage.

Firstly Maidana has a great chin. He has never been KO'ed in his career.

Khan has been wobbled many times and of course been KO'ed.

What he has in his favour is that he has gone up a weight class and has roach and Ariza in his corner. He'll be sparring with Pacquiao and he'll have the sharpest defence on the night. I feel he may even have a better chin coming into this fight than he ever had before. He will make weight easily. I think he can stop Maidana if he puts in the work.

The only thing that worries me about this fight is that theres all this hype about a Floyd fight and that can be distracting for a fighter. All this hype at a crucail point in his career. Training in LA where the media are running around like a politician in a brothel.

This is going to be a great fight to watch and its going to decide whether Khan is a real contender for 140 lb dominance or a paper champion, which is how he is percieved by much of the US.

He can do it but he needs to be disciplined and focus on the job in hand not on possible fights in the future.

I think that that if Maidana doesn't ko him within 5-6 rounds Khan might stop him. Granted I don't think Khan hits as hard as Ortiz, but after fatigue and punishment sets in, its just a matter of time. Maidana has to come in superb condition, if he wants to increase his chances aside from his power.

        I'm sure Khan is capable.

I think any fighter can be KO'd if they don't come prepared with their brain, unless the opponent is Paulie Malignaggi or Charlie Zelenoff.

Another thing, with the way the hype is going the fighters are talking like we're got a Hagler Hearns toe to toe war on our hands.

            Never.

That would be the worst strategy Khan could adopt and I don't think he has the power to make that early KO. Look at el chino's record and he lost the only fight (vs Kotelnik) that has gone past 7 rounds. You watch that fight and Maidana is still in condition at the end. He's not tired and he;s still throwing punches.

I can see a bit of wrestling early on from Khan and then a move in for the kill later on.

A KO is possible but not the likeliest of outcomes. A stoppage might happen if Khan cuts him up.

Khan can stop him yes, but not inside the first 6. Khan doesnt posses single punch power, it usually a flurry of consistent bursts that have resulted in most his stoppages.

The approach i would take if i was Khan would be to go and work Maidana's body early, try to slow his pace and take a bit of gas out of him, then work him down through quick combo's second half of the fight when his speed can really count.

I cant remember seeing Khan ever plant his feet and launching a hayemaker at any opponent for a single punch KO, would be interesting to see if he has that power, but i feel he's to reserved to take that approach now.

I do not know who will win this fight. What if Pienza, if Khan wins is the most provably will win between the first and third round. And if you win Maidana between the fourth and sixth. This fight does not pass the 6 rounds

Beginning to wonder what kinda gloves they'll wear for this.

That'll have an effect on the outcome too.
