If the biggest and toughest fight of your life/career was in december, wouldn't you want to train for it in your comfort zone instead of some ****ed up island like the phillipines? Hmmmmm ok

Cotto and Chavez were initially scheduled to face each other on the December date, but Arum cited concerns over marketing for the switch in direction. Arum felt the Cotto-Chavez fight was taking place too close to the Manny Pacquiao vs. Antonio Margarito pay-per-view, which happens on November 13. He says Cotto vs. Chavez could be a much bigger event if they push it back to the spring of 2011.

According to Carl Moretti, Vice President of Top Rank, a potential junior middleweight mega-fight between WBA champion Miguel Cotto and undefeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is not a dead issue. There has been a lot of speculation after Chavez Jr. refused to accompany his trainer Freddie Roach on a trip to the Philippines, where Roach is training Manny Pacquiao for his November fight with Antonio Margarito. Cotto-Chavez is slated for December 4 in either New York's Madison Square Garden or a venue in Atlantic City.

According to sources in Mexico, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is reportedly not happy with the idea of having to spend several weeks in the Philippines to prepare for a fight with WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto. Chavez's new trainer, Freddie Roach, will be in the Philippines for several weeks to train Manny Pacquiao for his fight with Antonio Margarito on November 13. Cotto vs. Chavez is tentative for December 4.

Several of Roach's fighters, including 140-pound champion Amir Khan and junior middleweight Vanes Martirosyan, have fights scheduled around the same period. Roach wanted to train several of them, including Chavez, at the same time in the Philippines before returning to the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles. Roach wanted to use Chavez as the chief sparring partner for Pacquiao. He says Chavez has the ability and the physical form to duplicate the style of Margarito.

It's obvious Cotto wants Pacquaio or Margarita man... He is not trying to fight minor leaguers man.
