Not really. The tournament is at 168 lbs and Kirkland's fighting weight is 154. Plus he couldn't possibly be in top fighting shape that quickly.

what a glorious day for american society another repeat offender prison pro gets out to mingle with the good decent honest folks of america. Let's let him fight real soon he deserves a nice payday for all the weeks work he just missed paying society for his indiscretions and crimes. Just a shame society has to deal with this type of guy in sports.

        Welcome back James "Mandingo" Kirkland.

Will Anne Wolfe still be his trainer?

James Kirkland was legit. Fastest starter I can recall off the top of my head since Iron Mike. And to those who say he's not in shape...Lots of those guys come out in better shape than when they went in. I was disappointed to see him incarcerated...not because he didn't deserve it. But, because the sport of boxing needs a guy like this. Love to see him against Martinez, or Williams among others.

Kirkland returning to boxing! I bet even his boyfriend he left behind in prison is excited and also proud of him.

Kirkland will be fighting a slouch, he needs a tuneup and it does not really leave him a lot of time to train anyways...what, like 4 weeks or something?

No doubt. His first opponent probably won't even be as good as the guys he spars with preparing for him. At least he shouldn't be.

And actually what he got his parole violation for was questionable.

He purchased a gun yeah, but at the time, there were rumors that he was being threatened, so maybe he didn't exactly make the right choice, but under certain circumstances, you can kind of see why maybe he felt he needed extra protection.
