I have always respected the fact that ring magazine were sensible with their choice of champion. As exmple they continued to call Spinks champion until Tyson beat him and they continued to call Foreman champion until he was ripped off against Briggs but in this case I think they should have left it vacant until at the least Vitali had avenged his loss to Byrd. I know all about the injury but the recold does show a loss.

we need one of these heavyweight champs to step up and be impressive. I hope it is VK, becuase he brings the most excitment and potential matchups in the future. Byrd, Ruiz and Brewster against each other doesn't do much for me, but put Ruiz or Byrd against VK and then we have something to talk about.

We need some sanity in the heavyweight division.

He appeals internationaly as well as in the states because he is well spoken, a genuinely nice man, and a potentialy dominating heavyweight champion for years to come. If he can end this fight in spectacular fashion then his status is just gonna increase exponentialy. The casual fan thinks that because Williams beat Tyson he must be a bad ass. Therefore the casual fan will respect Vitali for knocking out the man who beat Tyson.
