The focus will once again shift from Mayweather and Pacquiao to actual boxing.

Honestly Pacquiao is not retiring anytime soon. He is a fighter and this is what he loves to do. Now I do see a scenario in which he goes down to fighting once...maybe twice a year, due to his political obligations, but after he beats Margarito....I feel he becomes the face of boxing.

Boxing has always been at it's best when there was that one guy who not only was on top of the sport, but also attracted casual fans and brought new fans to the sport.

Why people hate Manny doing this for the sport we all love is beyond me? Honestly, after Nov 13th, Manny might reach Tyson-like level. Now I'm not saying doing ridiculous numbers, but in the sense that people were tuning in to see a "Tyson fight" and really didn't care too much about the opponent per say because regardless of the fact you knew you were getting you moneys worth.

Oscar came close to that level, but I feel Manny actually gets there with a dominating win this fall.

Also I'm not saying Manny starts cherry picking guys.....but he will be on a level to where he will start doing a million plus easily....regardless of his opponent.

That would be good because Top Rank wouldn't have to worry about finding other draws, unless they want a mega-fight, but can go with guys like Bradley, Martinez, Angulo and still do great numbers.

I don't think Boxing is going to be affected as much a the Pilipines. Pacquiao has helped with the Islands self steem and they adore him. Hopefully they will move their attention to Donaire, Who I consider a better boxer.
Here in America I don't see the same effect.

if pac will retire, obviously one fighter will come back from vacation/ semi 2nd retirement... and boxing will still be alive (in terms of thrash talking)

When Pacquiao retires, Mayweather will be finished his vacation and fight top fighters like Paulie Malignaggi and Ricky Hatton.

Reality is no matter what Pacquiao achieves, The Philippines will still be the same islands who adores whoever is a role model out there. It won't be affected in a drastic way.

The only thing that will be missed at every Pacquiao fight is how eerily quiet the streets are in the Philippines everytime there's a Pacquiao fight. Besides, Pac's a Congressman and we'll see and hear more of him for a long time and that's for sure!

Pacquiao's legacy in boxing is etched throughout eternity, and no one can take that away from people's memories! History will be kind to him.

People can bet on that too
