  • I would say Oscar wishes he could fight like Floyd Mayweather, that is why I have a hard time seeing Oscar really getting after Floyd

What fighter that Oscar dominated that really compares to Floyd in any way?

    • Prime De La Hoya was top 60 pound for pound of all time.

Prime Floyd is also top 60 pound for pound of all time.

Prime Pacquiao is top 5 pound for pound of all time.

Floyd beat a slightly past his prime Golden Boy by split decision. The results would be reversed if Oscar was in his prime.

Pacquiao would still beat De La Hoya prime for prime but it would be a closer fight that would end much later but still in favor of Pacquiao.

thats like arguing floyds win over mosely counts for more than oscar's losses to him as far as resume goes. that makes no sense.
chavez wasn't done. he only had 1 loss, had the wbc title and went on to win a title even after losing to oscar. whitaker only became done after the delahoya fight where he got caught using ******* and had a long layoff before losing to trinidad. you are just trying to nitpick way too hard. hoya beat undefeated guys like quartey, genaro and trinidad. those guys are better than the undefeated guys floyd fought corrales and hatton.

please...quartey is good but to say hes better than a win over corralles is an overstatement, they are at about the same level, borderline hofers. oscar didnt beat trinidad, even if u think he did. and sure he beat hernandez but he beat a smaller guy making his first journey into the lightweight division. floyd fought the same guy at his top weight and had a better win than dlh. these are facts.
and chavez was done, after the meldrick taylor and the sweet pea fights, he was far from prime and he clearly wasnt the same. he didnt have enough to beat any elite fighters by that time.

everyone thinks that just like everyone thinks castillo beat mayweather. we know what the official scores said but
if you've ever watched either fight you know the real winner. the judges were wrong.

aren't *****s the same guys who said hatton was ruined by mayweather and pac's win against hatton at his top weight class didn't mean anything? now you are saying the exact opposite with genaro hernandez? hernandez moved up and got knocked out by delahoya but now floyd gets more credit for beating genaro at his top weight class? hypocrite warning!

              • 1. A prime Delahoya struggled with a past prme Sweet Pea.

                2. A prime Delahoya looked like complete garbage against Oba Carr, it was a good exciting fight but exposed Oscar's flaws.

                3. Floyd's words: "Oscar called me a runner, but if he could run as good as me, he would've beaten Trinidad. I couldn't agree more.

                4. Once a prime Oscar turned part-time fighter got tired of getting beat up by fast black fighters, he turned to Floyd senior, pattering his style around Floyd Junior. He practiced the shoulder roll defense, which he used against Vargas and others. He went from a Mexican-style bouncing back and forth boxer, to a more balanced American-style, less energy wasting movement type fighter. That should tell you everything about who's better.

                Conclusion:
Floyd is a better fighter, the Mayweather that Oscar fought at 150 wasn't a prime Floyd either. He put on some bulk, was a bit slower, Oscar had all the advantages and he lost fair and square.

In their prime, Floyd outboxes him systematically. It would look a lot faster paced than their 154 vs 150 fight.

                • Theories like this aren't comparable what so ever, Mayweather's prime was not @ 147 or 154, it was the lower divisions, so you can't compare.

I dare say 140 Oscar v.s. floyd would be competitive..................

Just to cut in quickly, that is complete garbage.

I don't know if you have seen it but in his last fight before Oscar Pea fought Hurtado. He was getting outboxed and losing to Hurtado (a limited fighter) before getting a late KO. In Pea's prime Hurtado would have been lucky to land a punch.

Pea was pretty much on the way out when Oscar got to him. I love Oscar but you can't say that was anything close to a prime Pea. As good as Oscar was he would barely have won a round against a prime Pernell.
