I think "UGH". Vitali steps up his competition from C+ fighters (Sanders, Johnson, Williams) to a B- level fighter (Rahman or Barrett) and then, if he gets by either or those two, he gets to face the winner of this crap? Sheesh.

If Wlad beats Peter and Byrd, the Klits will control 1/2 of the belts and together will face the most underwhelming challengers ever.

      I hope I'm wrong.

it will be an average fight and sam will get the nod seeing its in germany......either way, the wbc title is looking worthless at the moment.

I dont get it. I thought that Rahman was fighting Barret for the Interim title. I dont know how they can have two. But anyway if Sam wins Vitali will probably fight him in Germany which is one among several reasons that I hope Maskaev wins. I wish this was for the WBA title eliminator and you had a type error. Because Maskaev has the kind of power that can blast Ruiz out early.

Maskaev has fought good opposition his whole career. They matched him against Oliver McCall in only his seventh pro fight he got blasted out like 30 seconds. He lost TKO 11 to David Tua. He had the best knockout ever vs Rahman knocking him out of the ring in the 8th. He KO'd Alex Stewart. He TKO'd Sedric Fields, Derrick Jefferson. All of his losses barring to McCall and Tua are kind of in a row.

Maskaev is done. If Sam can't get by him, it's over for him too.

Darn, the heavyweight division is really dragging down the whole sport. Pretty soon the champs will be fighting semi retired garbage collector 'mandatory challengers' like we had with RJJ for years.

how the hell does oleg get a eliminator shot? and what really bugs me is that vitali will face these chumps cause they will be his mandatory after rahman, i really wanted a vitali/brewster or vit/byrd-toney fight after rahman, maybe vitali will surprise us and not fight these guys after rahman/barret

Maskaev has a great punch. Same punch he knocked out RAHMAN when he was losing his fight late. If Maskaev beats Sam I won't be surprised. This is going to be a good fight because I've never seen Sam fight so we will se if he is any good. Maskaev is a decent fighter but he made allot more money investing in real estate in Staten Island than he probably made of boxing; well with the money he made from boxing he was able to do this. We will see what he is made of and if he is ready to fight some of the best.

Have you seen the fight McCall vs Maskaev fight? McCall looked like he was ready to murder someone. I don't know if Maskaev was even that hurt more than scared cause it was only his 7th fight.
