Showtime Still Not Showing The Money For Corrales Vs. Castillo!

Sources close to WBO lightweight king Diego "Chico" Corrales have informed **********.com that America's self proclaimed #1 Boxing Network, Showtime, is still unwilling to act as such, by opening up its pocketbook for the best lightweight fight in the world, Corrales versus WBC lightweight champion Jose Luis Castillo. Apparently Showtime is still offering Corrales less money than he made against Acelino Freitas to fight Castillo in a unification bout and unless they ante up soon the fight might not get done...on Showtime.

    ----------

A $1M payday for Corrales would probably nail the deal down, but Showtime is still only offering around $750,000. Perhaps HBO can find the remaining quarter million somewhere in its vault. If fighting Casamayor twice, and forcing previously undefeated two division champ Acelino Freitas into saying 'no mas' won't get you $1M from Showtime, one must wonder how much longer elite fighters such as Corrales will choose to remain on Showtime.

This would be a shame if this fight was foiled...JL Castillo will kill Corrales...there are lot of Corrales lovers on this board...the hard punching wife beater was beaten up once by Casmayor and had to resort to boxing him the second time because he could beat him no other way( normally boxing to victory would be great but when you are a so called puncher, resorting to this has to leave some questions)...Castillo will stalk and Corrales will oblige which will no doubt make for an early night!

Castillo beat up Casamyor like no one else has, it took a while but the last four rounds were brutal....he showed that Floyd Jr was not in a different league, rather the same league-Diego didn't belong on the same planet as Floyd.

Diego beat up an overrated Freitas, held on barely against Casamayor...the guy is overrated...besides Freitas, Diego has not looked good since he beat up his wife(he was impressive that night, he was just able to get off first and she had no answer for his power)...Castillo in a laugher, just like when Diego fought Floyd, except it won't be speed this time Diego will be beaten by a guy with a much better chin- Chin/Power vs. no chin and power...go ahead Corrales fans take your pick!

I too believe Castillo will beat Corrales convincingly. It's a shame Showtime doesn't want to put a great fight on thier air.

Looks like its time for HBO to destroy the little boxing activity showtime has left.

HBO should pony up the money for these 2 to meet. I got my money on Castillo.

scap, i would say its a stretch to say corrales was "beaten up" by casamayor in the first fight. corrales is the first man ever to legitimately put casamayor on his a$$, something castillo was never close to doing. the round prior to the cut stoppage casamayor was running for his life. they both beat eachother up. the second fight he outboxed casamayor. castillo imo lost to casamayor, even if you dont agree with that he did worse than corrales did and casamayor was coming up in weight. castillo obviously did much better than corrales did against mayweather. all that aside styles are everything in boxing. im wondering how corrales will go into that fight, trying to out box or going to war. everyone already knows how castillo will approach corrales. if corrales goes to war i think he'll get stopped, if he boxes intelligently he can keep anyone at bay with that devastating power and its a toss up. i hope showtime shows them the money

Corales mioght be better off just finishing his contract with showtime . . . I don't think HBO will think twice putting CHICO into their roster.

i think castillo is simply too big and too strong for corrales. although i dont think it will be an early night as many of you are saying for corrales i do think castillo will grind him down to a late round stoppage. that is, if this fight even happens. hbo should definitely put on this fight it would attract a lot of viewers.
