At 160-168 Roy was probably the greatest fighter ever. I dont think it would have been much competition at the time for Roy. Although I do believe Gerald would have given him the hardest fight and I would have liked to see that. But Roy is still a far superior fighter than those mentioned. I dont believe Roy backed out because he was scared but because he didnt want to deal with Don King.
You have gotta be f**king kidding me. Please tell me that's a joke post. P-L-E-A-S-E.
Jones WAS Benn's mandatory at the time, but RJJ stays in the States because of his so called 'screwing' in the olympics on foreign soil.

Jones skills were far superior than any other boxer out there, Jones was the complete package at 160-168 and that cant be denied. I have expressed my opinion on the whole leaving the U.S. numerous times. In closing all I have to say is that it works both ways, Jones didnt want to go overseas and fighters didnt want to come over here.

Benn won his world titles stateside, but he was the champ, Jones was the challenger. The money would have been more in the UK.
As for RJJ's skills, great hand speed and reflexes, but suspect chin. Against Benn's power I don't see RJJ winning, but that's just my opinion.

Well if Jones was so great at 160-168, why he didn't he fight the best such as Benn, Eubank and McClellan? Jones defended his IBF 160 title once, one whole year after winning it, and his opponent wasn't even rated in the top five at 160 at the time. Jones defended his IBF 168 title five times, three of those opponents weren't even ranked in the top 10 at 168 at the time and another was just a 'blown-up' Lightweight. The first time that Jones ever fought a mandatory contender was his very last fight as a 160-168 fighter against Bryant Brannon (Bryant who?). He defended against awful opposition and you've got the nerve to say that he was untouchable at 160-168? Give me a break!
If he was so great he would of fought Benn, Eubank and McClellan, it's no good saying now that he 'would of' won these fights because the fact is he didn't, he didn't even fight them! I wonder why

Money was never an issue for fighting overseas when it came to Roy Jones he didnt want to fight overseas despite the money to be made.
Jones chin was never suspect until he came back down to light heavyweight so that assumption is void. Jones had been hit with some hard shots in the past and was never phased until the Tarver fight. Ruiz barely hurt Jones.....
Posting these threads on boxingscene.com forums are not going to convert any Jones-fans into Jones-haters...and it's not going to
make the fight happen out of the blue. It's time to stop dwelling
on the past, man.
