Ever seen any footage of Ray Robinson? It's Sugar Ray Robinson.

but id go with either Sugar Ray Robinson or Ali, which has already been repeated here. it is basically an opinion tho. they should do some kind-of big decision on who's the best P4P of all-time or top 10 like the AFI does for movies, you know? getting the opinions of like 200-500 boxing 'experts', that would narrow it down.

I just finished reading Robinson's autobiography, interesting stuff.

Folks that underrate him have to remember that there is little to no footage of Ray fighting in his prime. Most of what we have is when he moved up to middleweight, and a lot of footage you see (like the Basilio fights) are post-comeback, when he was a changed fighter.

Robinson....but a case can be made for Henry Armstrong.
That S.O.B. held three (LEGITIMATE) titles at the same time !
From what I've heard, he should have had a fourth title...but came out on the wrong end of the nod against Ceferino Garcia.

Robinson was champion of TWO weight divisions and beat more of his fellow Hall of Famers than ANY other fighter alive. Even WAY PAST his prime he kept beating GREAT fighters.

Plus he would have won the light heavyweight title if the heat hadn't knocked him out, which would have given him a shot at the heavyweight title...for a former welterweight!

Armstrong and Pep seem to be the other two names you hear a lot at the top of the list.

Since you guys already have the usual suspects I'll drop someones that you seem to forget, Stanley Ketchel should be one this list, he was an accomplished middleweight champ who won the light heavyweight crown, and even fought Jack Johnson,knocking him down in a losing effort.

Next would have to be Micky Walker this guy used to fight heavyweights for fun, and doing it drunk too.

But the guy I would argue who would be the only man to possibly be the #1 p4p all time over sugar ray robinson would be "The Human Windmill" Harry Greb. The only man who defeated Gene Tunney. Greb was a middleweight who primarialy fought light heavys and heavyweights, and he did this w/ one eye, he was blind in the other, Greb beat opponets like **** FLowers, and Gunboat Smith, the list goes on the man had 105 W's
