Comments Thread For: Hennessy Talks Froch vs. Abraham, Pascal, Kessler

Carl Froch's rearranged clash with Arthur Abraham is now set for 27th November in Helsinki, with the Hartwall Arena expected to be announced as the venue in coming days. The two fighters have goaded one enough in the press this week, Abraham questioning Froch's mental strength and Froch dismissing Arthur's talk, labelling the Germany-based Armenian a 'smurf'. Mick Hennessy, Froch's promoter, confirmed the rearranged date when speaking exclusively to BoxingScene.com.

Pascal is losing to Hopkins, so a Pascal rematch would be out of question. I don't see Froch winning the tournament either, so we'll see how the the remaining fights develop and judge where Carl could go from there. I can see the cobra overcoming a tough fight with Abraham and winning a decision, but Dirrell and Ward are too much for Froch and i see the winner of that fight (if it goes ahead) winning the super six.

I just hope the two remaining super-six fights go ahead more then anything at this point.

You know it mate!! Those long arms, better workrate and that unorthodox stance will confuse Abraham who can only fight in spurts when he wounters Froch.

Unless Sauerland has paid the judges Froch's got this one in the bag!

andre ward is the best fighter in this tournament and will win the entire thing and stay undefeated and hopefully fight lucian bute, which he will beat too. i think froch will either beat AA by decision or get a stoppage by the 7, unless AA turns it up early.. i believe froch is aware of AA's power as well as his habit to start late and will try to end the fight early.. AA doesnt have the boxing skill to beat froch only a punchers chance.

Abraham has a great guard and Froch loves to head hunt, so i can see both fighters getting a little frustrated at some point. If Arthur can cut off the ring and force Froch to punch from off the ropes or from the corner, a body attack early would perfectly set up a late KO. (on the other hand) Froch can confuse Arthur early with his angles and his height and reach could also be used to his advantage if he takes cues form the Dirrell fight.

only problem i see here is that Froch tends to let his hands hang to the side while trying to lure his opponents in and Abraham's burst of offense is alot more dangerous than Kessler's, and if Arthur finds him early, i can't see Froch trying to match him blow for blow. Abraham cannot let too many rounds slip away, or let Froch frustrate him with dirty boxing on the inside. If the same Abraham shows up in Finland he might get outworked and timed, but i dont think he'll be beaten or knocked out. Froch needs to jump on him early, punish him, draw blood, or else Arthur will eventually find his range and explode somewhere in the 7-9 rounds and put Froch on the floor.

even though im a Ward fan, it's hard for me to join the Ward club in agreeing that he's something special and that he wins the tourny easily. for one, he still has yet to prove he can be tough on the road. i know he gives his opponents hell, but the last fight he controlled without having to resort to the tactics he used in beating Kessler was the display of speed and accuracy against Miranda (who i felt wasn't a big threat @ 168 after being destroyed by Pavlik and Abraham @ 160) since he has been able to take away both Kessler and Green's best tools. i think Dirrell can be a tough fight for him, but one he can win by using the same inside fighting to contol rounds. Froch on the other hand might force Andre back to the outside and we may once again see Ward put together some nice combos. either way he's tough, sticks to a gameplan, and is very determined. i appreciate him, im just not excited (atleast until fight night).
