Comments Thread For: Daiki Kameda-Takefumi Sakata: The Pre-Fight Report Card

2010 has not been the best of year’s for the best of Japanese boxing. It’s biggest attraction, Koki Kameda, was upset by Thailand’s Ponsaklek Wonjongkam for the lineal and WBC Flyweight crowns in March. It’s best fighter, Hozumi Hasegawa, was a knockout victim versus Mexico’s Fernando Montiel the following month. [Click Here To Read More]

Shit, I guess I'll be staying up and hoping a stream will pop up somewhere.

I assume Sakata is a shot fighter, while Daiki has a hell of a jaw. Both of them don't have much firepower, but Sakata has more bullets. This is a hard pick. I go for Daiki by knockout. I want this pick to be turned around the way nobody can expect it to be. Oh well, the bout starts in about 15 minutes over this side of the rim. I don't know how many are here on the board, but I'll keep you informed and updated as quickly as possible.

The fight just ended, with Daiki successfully defending his belt. The scores were 116-112, 117-112, and 118-110, all in favor of Daiki Kameda. These scorecards are kind of weird, as the fight as I saw was much closer. My scorecard reads like 115-113 for Daiki, with Daiki winning Rounds 1, 2, 3, 9, 10, 11, and 12. 116 is acceptable, but 117 and 118 are unthinkable. Hmm...? Oh well, the Kameda fights always winds up in controversial scorecards. This is just another case of that nature.
