Calzaghe didn't fight MW's. Berto is Mayweather. Also it's well documented that Calzaghe was willing to fight Hopkins and Jones in their prime. Particularly Hopkins who backed out in 2002.

He ducked Jones in his prime. To his credit he did try to fight Hopkins.

Because he's yet to fight an elite opponent, these third tier fighters he opting to fight with is only hindering his credibility.

calzaghe won the title off a faded unranked chris eubank. berto won the title off an unranked bum named mickey rodriguez.

calzaghe's first defense was an early stoppage over unranked branko sobot. berto's was against tiny unranked steve forbes.

calzaghe's second defense was a gift decision over top tenner robin reid. berto's was a gift decision over top tenner luis collazo.

calzaghe's third defense was against unranked Juan Carlos Gimenez Ferreyra who basically gave up after 9 cause he couldn't win a round. berto's was against unranked at welterweight urango who basically gave up cause he was so slow and small.
