Has anybody done less, but asked for more than Paul Williams?

I mean I realize that in this day and age of Manny Pacquiao and such, it's expected for marginal fighters to get a shot at the top guys in the sport, but can someone explain to me what Paul Williams has done besides craft the greatest myth in boxing.

He beat Antonio Margarito. Barely. He got his ass whooped by Quintana. Avenged it, but 13 rounds to dispose of that bum? Got his ass whooped by Martinez. Robbed him. Got his ass beat by Kermit Cintron until Kermit took a page from Bernard Hopkins.

All of this while he possessed every single physical advantage possible over every opponent he has ever faced.

Paul Williams. I'm not a fan.

It's funny, I feel the same way about Celestino Caballero...

Edit: I give this thread 30 seconds before we get the Juanma/Gamboa ducked him speech...

Got his ass whipped by Martinez??

That was not a robbery. That was a fight that could have went either way. I personally scored it for Martinez but to say Martinez whipped his ass is ridiculous.

They beat eachother up. You could have scored it for Williams, Martinez, or a draw and any of those would have been ok.

He has some good wins, The Philips win was good, the Marg win was a close but a clear win as the rounds were very easy to score, he dominated Winky like no one had ever done, the Cintron fight was not conclusive enough to say anything about who was the better man after 3.5 rds, and Cintron is the one who milked that "fall" to try and get a cheap TD win. What do you want from the Quintana fight? He was a slick guy at his best and a bad style match up for Paul yet he still avenged his only loss in devastating fashion in spite of that.

I thought he lost a close fight to Sergio and think he will lose clearly this time but it was alot better than I think anyone from 154-160 could do against Sergio right now, Pavlik was beaten and bloodied to a point where he wanted to quit against Sergio at the end.

Paul has put in some good work even if he isn't a household name and doesn't draw huge crowds and that is all I have to say about the matter.

a little harsh if you ask me bro.

plus the bernard hopkins reference is bogus, as bernard never leap frogged out the ring, he was pushed out by mills lane in a freak accident and landed straight onto the concrete, not softly landing on a desk, then slowly slid to the ground like kermit.

totally different scenarios, one was legit, the other was bs.
