Saul Alvarez has a very underrated record

-Baldomir was a former lineal champ, who went the distance with Mayweather and Vernon Forrest
-Luciano Cuello gave Chavez Jr a vey tough fight(Alvarez dominated him)
-Jose Cotto has fought for a title twice
-Lanardo Tyner upset another prospect, Antwone Smith, fairly recently
-Jeferson Goncalo has gone the distance with top 10 Middleweights like Khoren Gevor and Hassan N'Jikam, while Alvarez knocked him out in the 9th(as a teenager)
-Michael Rosales is rated #33 in the world by boxrec
-Euri Gonzalez upset former title challenger Cosme Rivera about a year ago
-Raul Pinzon was beating former WBO 140lb titleholder Ricardo Torress and dropped him 3 times before getting KOed in the last round
-Miguel Vasquez is the current IBF Lightweight champion

Im not saying Alvarez's record is amazing, but its much better than people make it out to be with wins like the above. especially considering hes just turned 20.

And say what you want about Baldomir being old, but I seriously doubt most people expected Alvarez to turn his lights out and make him plop onto the canvas face first after one big shot. maybe a tko ref stoppage or corner stoppage or something, but not that...

What people fail to realise is that Alvarez had little or no amateur career and has been fighting since he was about 15. Some fighters have to do that, because they actually need money and dont have the luxury of an amateur career.
Hes not simply 'building his record', hes still learning. the guys hes been facing arent the most well known, but theyre actually under the radar good fighters. Hes slowly being exposed to different styles and increasing levels of skill, which is what you WANT from a young prospect...not like many prospects nowadays, who get fed real tomato cans and easily knock them out, and then have no idea what to do when they step up in class.

So lighten up about his opposition: its not nearly as bad as yall make it out to be sometimes. in reality hes actually being pushed into high fights too early, thats a real danger.
Give him a year, and then well talk. hes improving drastically from fight to fight, if you ask me.

He's 20 years old and he's essentially still fine tuning his skill. Now know nothing morons will say "oh but hes already had 30 something pro fight he should be fighting nohing but top 10 fighters". But thats just because they have a problem with a marketable fighter being marketed correctly by his promoters. ****** I know but what they fail to realize is this kid had zero amature experience unlike all of their favorite fighters who had hundreds of amature fights.

He beat a almost 40 weight drained semi retired Baldomir, big deal.

He got put on ***** street by a blown up lightweight, no wonder he doesn't fight punchers.

Yeah he's on the right track, especially at his age.

So once again we have another ****** ***ing moron that thinks being stunned for 20 seconds is ***** street/major trouble.

Let me just say this, Alvarez was never in any real danger, he circled away, and had the sense to get his senses back like a champion does when they get stunned. That does not = ***** street moron!!! Is this really the only thing knownothings can use to criticize Alvarez?

It's obvious that this ***ing guy didn't even watch the fight and is just regurgitating nonsense because he doesn't like it when fighters have good promoters. The end!

De La Hoya was dropped by a 35-12 featherweight early in his career, and still has an iron jaw.
Andre Ward was dropped by a bum early in his career.
Pacquiao was flat out KOed by a bum early in his career.
Wladimir Klitschko was TKOed by a bum when he was 22.
Hopkins got dropped twice by a mediocre fighter
Mayweather was cut and came fairly close to losing in his 2nd or 3rd fight
JuanMa Lopez got dropped early in his career.

point is: this is boxing. many great fighters have gotten dropped or even lost early in their career.
At least Alvarez stood up from the shots he took, and at least he was only 19, and at least he fought a former title challenger.
not to mention that Baldomir had a 3 lb weigh-in advantage going into the fight.
lets be honest here: did you expect Baldomir to be KOed as badly as he was?
All things considered, Baldomir didnt look too bad, not incredibly worse than how he looked a few years back.
