Is Shane Mosley fading away?

General Douglas MacArthur once said, “Old soldiers never die, they just fade away.” Boxing fans from all over the world are starting to feel like “Sugar” Shane Mosley can relate to this quote. When Mosley at 38 years old, fought undefeated champ Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 1st at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. There was a lot of fight fans saying that Mosley is done and should retire, while others said it was Mayweather’s style that made him look old and rusty. Fans wanted an answer and I believe they found it on September 18th.
As I was watching the Mosley vs. Mora fight at the Staples Center, I instantly noticed that Mosley is not the same fighter he was 3 years ago. Mosley ran out of gas and was already tired by the fifth round, it looked like “Sugar” Shane was fighting harder for air than against Mora. Mosley’s speed and footwork wasn’t the same either, Mora was landing plenty of good punches and frustrating Mosley. Everytime “Sugar” Shane was trying to throw a punch or land some combos, it seemed like Mora tried to avoid the punches by running away. There was unhappy fans booing and yelling out “Canelo, Canelo, Canelo!” and some even left the fight early, while Mora and Mosley were battling in the ring.
Whether some people feel that Mosley won or lost that fight, there’s one thing all fight fans agree with, that “Sugar” Shane Mosley should hang up the gloves and retire from the sport. I believe that if Mosley fights again, it will be against a young upcoming prospect, to pass the fame to a younger fighter that will later make good money for Golden Boy Promotions. So what do you guys think, is “Sugar” Shane Mosley fading away or does he still have something left for the fans?
