it's a few things
the loyalty at which he showed Garcia
the manner at which he acted in Oxnard
I do think Bam's story is a bit embellished but not by much according to those who live in Oxnard and have no alliances to either side
essentially Ortiz acted like he ran Oxnard when he changed everything and hung out with some less than choir boy like people. Those people he told that Rios was the enemy so they made it a point to make Brandon very not welcomed there
I know it seems odd given the looks of the two. Ortiz comes off very smooth and polished while Rios comes as rough and thuggish but in essence Rios has calmed down a lot.
To add to that, here's what Doug Fischer said about it:
The grudge against Ortiz stems from Victor leaving Robert Garcia (as well as manager Cameron Dunkin and Top Rank) to train with Robert’s older brother Danny (and sign with managers Shelly Finkel and Rolando Arellano and GBP). What pisses Rios off are comments that Ortiz reportedly made about Robert in court when he was trying to get out of his promotional contract with Top Rank. I guess the comments weren’t nice. Robert won’t tell me what Victor said but he said that the words “hurt” him deeply. I guess Brandon, being a fiercely loyal dude, wants to score one of his team in a grudge match with his old amateur pal (both grew up in Garden City, Kansas) and stablemate.

It's a shame about the whole GB/TR cold war, otherwise we might have a chance of seeing Rios-Ortiz get it on.Comment

****** opinions concerning the fight night weight.
if a fighter wants to drain himself and kill himself cutting weight that's on them imo.
i've seen lightweights come in 155 on fight night. if they want to cut that much weight it's on them. as long as they make the weigh in limit.
funny. a guy puts on a lot of weight after the weigh in and losses and they say it's because they cut too much.
a guy puts on a lot of weight after the weigh in and wins and they had an unfair advantage.Comment
