Comments Thread For: Chisora Fight Ruled Out, Valuev To Have Surgery 10/8

British promoter Frank Warren wanted to match his young up and coming heavyweight Dereck Chisora (13-0, 9KOs) against former champion Nikolai Valuev (50-2, 34KOs) of Russia. Warren was looking at a possible year-end clash, but it won't happen, or at least happen this year. The Golzka paper reports that Valuev is having surgery on October 8 in Germany to correct some hand/wrist issues that have been bothering him for a while. No recovery time was listed. Valuev has been inactive since a close decision loss to David Haye, which took place on November 7, 2009.

Damn say what you want about Warran but he gives his fighters chalanges right away.

Chisora has 13 fights and he wants Valuev. Put him in GBP or Top Rank and it would take him about 30 fights until they would even think about Valuev

It was well known before Chisora's last fight that Valuev will have surgery.

      Typical grandstanding from a promoter.

Sosnowski or Dimitrenko or someone like that would be good next for Chisora.

Yes, Chisora vs. Dimitrenko for the European title would be an interesting fight.

But perhaps Chisora will take a local test with Skelton, McDermott or Sprott.

He'll likely fight on the big Warren card on Dec 11, it will be interesting to see who his opponent will be.

Chisora doesn't impress me at all. Valuev would toss his ass around the ring like he did Monte. He's fast, but he's fat as well and gassed Saturday. Luckily Sexton was even more out of shape and got even more tired.

Put him in with Arreola's fat ass on ESPN, maybe?

Maybe the WBC should make a belt exclusively for extremely overweight punchers.

If he fights any of them it would be a big shame, he could add to his titles and fight for the vacant European title, that would possible get him a shot at a proper title, therefore having British, commonwealth & European round his waist.

But only if he beat Dimitrenko.

You must have watched a different fight than me. Chisora pressed the action, fought at a tough pace for 7 rounds, took a round off, then finished with aplomb by throwing maybe 30 hard heavy consecutive punches in round 9. That is hardly "gassing".

The commentators were impressed at the high workrate. Having rounds off is hardly a crime in boxing, and can be a good tactical move, as proven by Chisora by his finishing of Sexton.

Chisora could be more toned and a bit stronger, but he's still growing as a boxer, and is an exciting prospect now he's gotten his wilder biting, kissing side under control. (Then again, controversy sells, so perhaps that is not something he needs to totally cut out.)

I really dont think chisora can cut the mustard outside of the domestic scene, a good fight would be against arreola, I genuinally think del boy should dance around more than he does, he looks good and his jab is very effective when he does, this guy will probably do something ****** anyway, if he's losing expect him to go out like a coward, like peterson the other week!
