Why didn't the Naz/Kevin Kelley rematch happen?

Someone fill me in. I remember watching this fight with my father when I was just a kid. Why on earth was there not a rematch??

Because it would have consisted of Naz/Kelley as the main event, with Naz' entrance as the undercard.

Thinking about it, i would pay to see that.

because Naz was found out in this fight , Naz was a great entertainer with awesome dynamites in both hands but those are usually what got him out of trouble , Kelley let naz get under his skin and fought naz' fight , in the rematch
i think Kelley wouldve been more focused , but really who knows , with Naz' entrances you could be taken out of your game plan in seconds lolololol , still i love naz man the guy is a legend !! btw good thread topic it was on my mind i just never thought of posting it

Did you watch it?? Kelley floored Naz three times. Naz floored Kelley three times as well. It was the best fight of 1997 and Larry Merchant described it as "The Hagler/Hearns of featherweight fights".

Its true Naz was technically down 3 times, but 2 of them he only touched down, and was never really hurt.
I think Kelly was a bit chinny, he went down a little too easily and was past his best.

Maybe there was no rematch because of a combination of Kelly being dangerous, yet easily floored. Hamed wanting to unify the division and going on to fight Vasquez. And Kelly losing to Gainer soon after.

A rematch could have been interesting, but also Hamed could have scored an early KO.

kind of harsh to call a guy chinny when he gets knocked down by the hardest featherweight puncher of all time
