it might not put him down but it will do damage (anybody see kotelnik's face after the maidana fight?) and it will stop him from coming forward like he did vs alexander. that was alexander's main problem, he couldnt impede kotelnik from coming forward and shooting that jab.
if it becomes a battle from distance it'll be ortiz' fight becuz he's faster, bigger, more range with solid boxing technique as well.

The Ukrainian warrior Kotelnik is the 2nd best Light Welterweight in the world behind Khan. He is the only man to beat Maidana. He dominated Alexander the fraud and got robbed. He clearly beat Prime Witter and got robbed. Alexander and Witter both got bull**** hometown gift decisions.

Kotelnik and Ortiz have a common opponent....Marcos Rene Maidana.

          - Maidana destroyed Ortiz and made him quit in 6.

          - Kotelnik clearly outboxed Maidana and put on a counter punching clinic.

          Who wins this matchup?
Kotelnik did not clearly outbox Maidana, people who have actually watched the whole fight even thought Maidana should have gotten the decision.

The difference between Maidana and Ortiz is that Ortiz throws his punches straight and short. Also, he doesn't telegraph his punches like Maidana, so I'm gonna go with Ortiz by decision.

Pretty shocking that folks still have such absurd and uninformed opinions on Kotelnyk.

One of these fighters has shown mental weakness and lack of heart, sure as *** isn't Kotelnyk. Kotelnyk's toughness outside and inside the ring >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Ortiz

Yeah, but Kotelnik doesn't aply the kind of pressure or have the power to make Ortiz fold, that's the difference here. But I do agree that Kotelnik has more heart.

                  I like both fighters...

Either might win, either Kotelnik by decision (if he doesn't get robbed again) or Ortiz by stoppage.

But if I had to pick one, I would go with an Ortiz win by TKO.

Obviously Kotelnyk's power won't enable a Maidana type stoppage. He does have a higher workrate than he showed in the Devon fight, Ortiz's size and style will allow him more offensive oppertunities and fighting on a GBP card in the US im sure he'll know he has to be more busy. There won't be a great difference in handspeed and while Ortiz is a great prospect he isn't anywhere near the technician that Kotelnyk is. I think he'll win a comfy decision (unless he's horrendously robbed again which is very very likely)

Ortiz pounds his way to a clear decision win.
