...and what exactly does the job entail?
From what I can gather, one must sign certain boxers and then work with other promoters to set up fights for the guy(s) they sign. The promoter is also responsible for negotiating the fight details (location, money, etc.) and then actually promoting the fight so that it makes money. To me it sounds sort of like a sports agent only with more responsibility.
Is any of this right? Does anyone know how guys like Don King, Bob Arum and Gary Shaw became promoters? It seems like maybe a business degree would come in handy, as would law school.
Does anyone know for sure though, all of this is just my thinkng out loud.
