You know, throughout boxing history, there have been great fighters who were either mishandled by promoters, or just flat could not catch a break.
One of the modern fighters that I can think of would be Andrew Golotta. I think he got the shaft against Byrd and also against Johnny "hold em" Luiz.
Another fighter that came to my mind would have been Gerry Cooney, who was just thrown to the lions too early. What could have been had he been brought up through the ranks properly, and taught the sweet science? We'll never really know.Maybe he still becomes a bum, maybe not.
Michael Dokes was another that comes to my mind.
Ike Ibeabuchi, what a waste of potential.
Then you have the self-destructive crowd like Liston, Tyson, Tony Ayalla, etc.
Name a few of the ones that got away. These are just a few.
