    Used and Abused Fighters

You know, throughout boxing history, there have been great fighters who were either mishandled by promoters, or just flat could not catch a break.

One of the modern fighters that I can think of would be Andrew Golotta. I think he got the shaft against Byrd and also against Johnny "hold em" Luiz.

Another fighter that came to my mind would have been Gerry Cooney, who was just thrown to the lions too early. What could have been had he been brought up through the ranks properly, and taught the sweet science? We'll never really know.Maybe he still becomes a bum, maybe not.

Michael Dokes was another that comes to my mind.

Ike Ibeabuchi, what a waste of potential.

Then you have the self-destructive crowd like Liston, Tyson, Tony Ayalla, etc.

Name a few of the ones that got away. These are just a few.

Well Hopkins was almost one of those guys, but he took matters into his own hands. For that I give him props.

Dokes was blessed to have Don King in his corner.Despite his talent, even when he was good, he wasn't always up to par.

The very green Fernando Vargas being thrown to a powerful prime Tito. Vargas was never the same.

Jorge Paez was exploited in his prime by the tv chain that had him fight what seemed like every single week.

David Reid. He showes he was world class by fighting so well against Tito for half the fight and then he took the beating

Joe Louis is the most used fighter ever. what was it around 70% of his earnings he had to give away for the rest of his career just to get the fight with James J. Braddock
