The Hitman, unfortunately, has been all over the front pages recently for being caught allegedly sniffing up shovel-loads of ******* in a Manchester hotel.
The former world boxing champion was said to have turned to the Bolivian marching powder because he was depressed about being battered and beaten in recent fights by Floyd Mayweather Jnr. and Manny Pacquiao.
But there was no disgrace in Hatton losing to that pair, who are currently ranked by respected Ring magazine as the No.1 and No.2 pound-for-pound boxers in the world.
Mayweather and Pacquiao are great boxers. Hatton was a very good fighter who achieved the most he could with the talent he had.
If Hatton wants to know how lucky he is, he should speak to Gerald McClellan. But he can’t.
American McClellan is blind, virtually deaf and wheelchair-bound after suffering brain damage when he fought against Nigel Benn in 1995. He’s also skint, too.
Or Hatton could call Michael Watson, another boxer who spent six months in a coma and six years unable to walk after a barbaric battle with Chris Eubank.
