you act like that's all ward can do. he's already one of the most versatile fighters in the game who can make adjustments during the fight.
if the ref takes that away he can can rely on other tactics.
the reason why he doesnt wanna fight outside of oakland is cuz he cant sell sht outside of there.
hes black and boring (both in and out of the ring) which means he's not marketable, so i dont blame him.

I don believe Clev will have it as easy as Joe had it in his day, all the super middle weights will more than likely move up in a few years and I dont see Clev beating Bute, Dirrell, Ward, Dawson...I have to see more from him but he wasnt fighting anyone of mention so time will tell.

his style is an eyesore but it's very hopkins-esque...and unlike hopkins, ward still has youth and energy on his side. his style would be hard to beat anywhere.
Only except his style is not allowed anywhere...

you mustve missed my prior post. hes already one of the most versatile fighters in the sport.
hes completely adaptable since he can fight at any distance and can either box or brawl.

i missed it, sorry. However i still disagree with you on certain points.

If he could win outside of Oakland relying on other skills than usual(which includes excesive holding, headbutting etc.) then i dont see why he is so releuctant to have any fights not in his backyard... Not selling enough is imo a bad argument. Its the super six.. Showtime makes sure its hyped. Being a european i can tell you the fight(vs Dirrel) would be watched with great interest over here aswell..

I agree he is versatile and very skilled. Also, it seems, very smart from strategicly. I just think he would be in serious trouble the first time he fights outside of safe home..

Black and boring?? many people find Floyd boring(not me) and he is black.. he is arguably the biggest name in boxing. Ward is black, skilled and it can be argumented that he is a cheater.. That imo makes for great marketability. He should just quit all that holding ****..

black and boring in AND out of the ring. he has no marketability.
and yes i agree, i am definitely not a fan of ward. in fact, i hate the way he fights, but i think he has the style, skills, physical talent and adaptability to beat anyone, anywhere.
that holding, hitting, blunting his opponents attack and smothering is one of the safest ways of fighting. its actually a very cautious style that masks conservatism with fake aggression.
that being said, he's also shown the ability to box and counter at distance.

Ward isn't black, his father is white,so he could reach both comunities with good marketing.

Thats a very good post imo and i tend to agree with you. You def are right about his physical talent. He does have all the tools to win anywhere in terms of speed, skills etc.

i would just like to see how reacts(adapts) if not allowed to fight his kind of (safe) fight.. and that aint gonna happen unless he leaves Oakland.
