    Is Khan-Maidana official?

I heard Khan had agreed but no confirmation yet.

Ive been blasting Khan over this for ages. If he does finally agree to fight Maidana then I will give him props. But with Roach managing his every move. I have my doubts that the fight will happen.

Does anybody know if it's been confirmed?

According to WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan, he wanted Marcos Maidana so bad that he agreed to give up the homefield advantage and allowed Golden Boy Promotions to send the fight to the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Khan tried very hard to have the fight in the UK, but the numbers wouldn't add up with the amount of money being requested by Maidana. Khan has promised that his next fight will take place in the UK.

"I wanted to fight Maidana so badly I have given up home advantage, even though I am the champion and not him. My team tried very hard to get this fight to the UK. But because of Maidana's demands, the figures just wouldn't add up. I can assure fans that my team will be doing whatever they can to stage my next world title defence in the UK. I thought we could do it this time but it hasn't worked out. Next year I want to fight in front of my fans in my country," Khan told Pat Sheehan of The Sun.

Khan's father, Shah, would like his son's next fight to take place in the UK.

"It is still a very big ambition of Amir's to make a defence in England. There is no reason why the next bout after Maidana can't be staged there."

Khan vs Maidana: Purse Bid Will Be a 55-45 Split
Posted by: Lem Satterfield on 09-14-2010.

      By Lem Satterfield

Marcos Maidana may very well luck out when the WBA holds the purse bid for his fight with Amir Khan. The WBA scheduled the purse bid for September 21 at their offices in Panama. Maidana was not satisfied with the financial terms for a potential fight with Khan on December 11. After their negotiations appeared to be falling apart, Maidana's team reached out to the WBA, who approved their request for an immediate purse bid.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, who promotes both boxers, confirmed certain details that may prove favorable to Maidana and explains why he pushed for a purse bid. Under the rules of the WBA, there is going to be a 55-45 split of the final bid in favor of Khan. The split is close to an even 50-50 because Maidana is the interim-champion, and Khan is the full champion.

Khan may have been forced into this fight by Maidana enforcing his mandatory rights but he should be given credit just for taking on a dangerous puncher. I felt there was a very good chance he would vacate his title and continue cherry picking soft touches. But he has taken the fight and deserves credit for changing the patern of his career.
