Exactly... But when they decided they would rather make more money knowing that champions sold more and thus decided to introduce more belts, they ruined it.
In the UFC Dana White, one loud guy who constantly twits his mind and happens to be the main man of the company, decides who fights who and works directly FOR the fans.
In boxing, the people making the fights work directly FOR THE FIGHTERS.
This was all based on an huge misconception the UFC knows very well and: Boxing assumed every fighter just wanted to fight the best. WRONG! What fighters want to to fight the ones PERCEIVED as the best so that they get kudos for beating them at the same time moderating RISK.
Fighters are OVERPAID in boxing: Fact. They should have all medical and pensioning plans ASSURED but not be paid dozens of millions of dollars for a single fight. The list goes on and on...
The important thing to remember is: Fighters should NOT have the control. A strong brand name is the answer. The brand name value must >>>> the best fighter's name value so that the one way they are recognized as the best is by effectively fighting the best on a regular basis, 2-3 times a year.Comment
