everybody knew shane was old. he's 38. no secrets there.

mora's style had more to do with restraining mosley than mosley's age. mora was taller, evasive (using his hands and feet to maintain distance) and gave mosley hard angles to land punches on.

now take that short list of things that gave mosley problems and add a hard jab and long right hand and you have vernon forrest. this gives us: taller, maintains distance, difficult angles to attack, hard jab, long right hand.

winky: taller, difficult angles, hard jab.

cotto stood right in front of him much of that fight and was given all he could handle as they both when back and forth. did you know when cotto began to "dominate" and completely drop mosley's punchstat numbers? when he started to use his legs to maintain distance, a hard jab with a couple long right hands thrown in. mosley reached a point of confusion and ate jabs the last couple of rounds.

now we come to floyd, who the same people that saw the above fights said was going to be knocked out by mosley. taller? no. maintains distance? excellently. difficult angles to attack? best in the business. hard jab? employed one all night, even doubling it up. long right hand? heck yes. landed it repeated.

floyd mayweather is a prodigious boxer. it looked so easy because, as mosley's weakness is strong boxers, floyd's boxing ability is on another level compared to winky wright's and miguel cotto's and sergio mora's.

berto's style would have been much better for mosley. no jab. relies on athletism, strength and hand-speed. does not maintain distance. jumps in with power shots. heck, that sounds like a description of a young mosley if "excellent body attack" and "heavy one-punch power" was added. though the younger mosley was better at using his legs to get out of range when he wasn't punching.

don't bring bias to everything you watch. pessimism often wins in the end so making a "i told you so" topic about something negative is useless. i could predict someone's death everyday and its almost inevitable that one day i could make a "i told you so" topic, too.
