Comments Thread For: Kelly Pavlik's Weight is Good, Focused To Impress in Texas

Former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik has entered training camp in much better shape than he did for April's decision loss to Sergio Martinez. For the Martinez fight, he started camp at 195-pounds and had to lose as much as four pounds on the day of the fight to make the middleweight limit of 160-pounds. He put on 18-pounds between the weigh-in and the actual fight.

I don't respect KELLY no more;he's finding too many excuses and he doesn't want to fight the better fighters in supermiddleweight division but he want to compete as middleweight yet;EDISON MIRANDA took the fights vs ANDRE WARD and LUCIAN BUTE(no matter the results)showing more balls!!!!KELLY think only about smaller guys!AA moved up in weight and he's in SUPER SIX TOURNAMENT(he killed TAYLOR);at my eyes KELLY PAVLIK is not as good as we tought after he won the title.

So he wasn't making excuses but lost to Hopkins because the weight was too high.

But he lost to Martinez because the weight was too low?

Sounds to me like excuses, you lost because they're better than you Kelly, man up.

i think he can still make a comeback but he's going to need to bring in a consultant or a completely new trainer. he's gone as far as he can go with his current trainer and the camps have probably become stale.

this sums up well the situation of Pavlik

if you won't fight at 160 and won't fight at 168, at what weight are you going to fight ??? it appears Pavlik has found the solution : 164

if he had the balls, he would go up to SMW for good, stop with the excuses, but he knows that division is too deep in talent for him to be a big player there

and letting himself balloon up to 195 before fighting Martinez is damn ******

lol at Pavlik trying to create his own weight division. He needs to man up and just accept that he got beaten by better fighters. He needs to be decisive and choose what weight he wants to fight at, then he needs to put the hard work in to try and get a result from fighting the top guys.
