  • Comments Thread For: Khan: I Wanted Maidana So Bad, I Agreed To Las Vegas

According to WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan, he wanted Marcos Maidana so bad that he agreed to give up the homefield advantage and allowed Golden Boy Promotions to send the fight to the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Khan tried very hard to have the fight in the UK, but the numbers wouldn't add up with the amount of money being requested by Maidana. Khan has promised that his next fight will take place in the UK.

Interesting, i would have thought that Khan would have made much more money in the UK than he would in the US, because neither are a draw over there.

That shows how bad he wants this fight I guess, that or he was forced to fight at a neutral zone.

When Shaefer said both fighters have made consession he was talking about Khan making the concession to fight away from home in Vegas and Maidana making the concession of accepting less money.

Sky Sports had a story about it yesterday.

if the fight would be in england Maidana should have to knock Khan out if he wanted to win, he would never get the decision there. In Vegas he has a chance, it also depends who gloden boy prefers more.

Maidana is an idiot he should have taken the extra cash and fought in the UK because the only way he wins is by KO.

They are going to prefer Khan over Maidana. Khan has a big fan base in the UK that helps sell UK ppvs. Even though boxing fans love Maidana for his determination and power, I don't think his fan-base is quite as large as Khans. If there's close rounds in this fight, I'd expect the judges to give them to Khan. But the closer this fight gets, the more I feel like Maidana is going to get schooled badly.

Maidana will be lucky to lay a glove on Khan, he isn't winning by decision anywhere in the world.

Khans not on PPV anymore, well his last fight wasn't. Nobody was buying them.

Do you consider him the bigger star-value over Maidana though? Because I kind of do.
