Comments Thread For: Gonzalez Celebrates Birthday In Style, Stops Asiku In Six

By Jake Donovan - It was either the celebration of the bicentennial of the Mexican War of Independence or the fact that it was his 29th birthday.

Whatever the case, Jhonny Gonzalez found enough cause to dig deep and resurrect his career on Wednesday night at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas, as the former bantamweight titlist delivered his best performance in years in scoring a sixth round stoppage over Jackson Asiku.

The win netted Gonzalez an alphabet belt, but more importantly puts him right back in the thick of things at a time when the featherweight division is hotter than it has been in years. [Click Here To Read More]

I actually ordered this fight cuz it was only 24.99 but lemme tell you that it was TOTALLY worth it...my brother and I were amazed at how Asiku survived the 4th and 5th rounds...he was badly hurt but managed to survive....good fight

^^^ I have to agree. All five fights were decent to watch, with something to write about in each fight. Two upsets, a nice performance by a rising prospect, solid action in the co-feature and a slugfest in the main event.

The price was good, and the fights were entertaining. Gonzalez looked good in winning, but he took too many punches, head and body, while Asiku walked into his power. Asiku was very aggressive and made a great fight, but he just about skewered himself as Gonzalez timed him rushing in. PPV could become a staple with reasonable pricing, under $20 could become a big winner.
