Tony Thompson has issued a press release clamoring for a rematch.

    Who’s next for Wladimir?

    By Karl Freitag

The Team of Wladimir Klitschko wants to put the IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight champion back in the ring in December. However, with David Haye fighting in November, Nikolay Valuev recovering from surgery and Alexander Povetkin’s handlers wanting to give him more time, who is available to challenge the champion?

The name of Tomasz Adamek stands out as the most marketable fight. Adamek may be available, but he may opt to take one more fight before challenging either Wlad or Vitali next year. Olympic gold medalist Odlanier Solis could make sense. Euro champ Alexander Dimitrenko might be interesting. Unbeaten Denis Boytsov has returned to the gym after hand surgery, although he might not be ready yet for a title shot.

The sleeper might be David Tua, whose name has been floated out there (and his spot at WBO #2 is intact despite a lackluster draw with Monte Barrett). Also Former Klitschko foe Tony Thompson has issued a press release clamoring for a rematch. Stay tuned.

I keeping thinking of that line form Scott Pilgram vs. the world.

"Why would you want to do that?"

It doesn't make sense for Wlad to rematch someone he's KOed, unless Thompson re-establishes himself by defeating a top ten heavyweight.

Thompson would be a good opponent for Solis, Adamek, Arreola or Povetkin. If he defeats one of those guys, then he's entitled to another title shot at Wladimir.

“I’d love another crack at Wladimir,” the lanky, 6′-6″ Silver Spring, MD southpaw with the expansive 81.5-inch reach offered. “I got my amateur and professional experience all in one fight. As you can see, I’m a quick learner.”

Thompson (34-2, 22 KOs) has recently stopped Germany’s Adnan Serin in Stuttgart, highly rated prospect Chazz Witherspoon and former world title challenger Owen Beck.

“All I can say is everyone counted Wladimir out after being stopped by Lamon Brewster, and all he’s done since then is have nine successful title defenses,” Thompson logically said.

“It would be a mistake to count me out.”

Thompson has given Wladimir his hardest fight since the first Sam Peter fight.

                FACT.

Anyone who would rather see Wlad beat up a totally shot Tua is just not into competitive fights.

At last Tua has never been KOed, at least not as a pro.

There is no point in Wlad rematching someone he KOed (Tony was actually counted out, it wasn't a TKO) unless Thompson can defeat a top ten HW first.

Most people would not be interested in Wladimir-Thompson II fight, it wouldn't sell even in Germany. Wlad needs a NEW challenger.

                    I agree with this^^^

Maybe Tony can fight Peter or Arreola and than earn a shot against Vitali?
