Comments Thread For: Baldomir Finishes Up Strong Camp, Aims To Batter Alvarez

Former world welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir finished up a strong training camp for his fight on Sept. 18 in Los Angeles against unbeaten Mexico's Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (33-0-1, 25 KOs) of Mexico. He said he was "optimistic and confident" of beating his "novel" rival, barely 20 years old. [Click Here To Read More]

      Delusional Baldomir.
He lacks power, that's the only way I could have seen Alvarez lose. As the fight gets old the only one who's gonna take punishment is "el tata." Alvarez still has much growing to do. He's 19 or 20 but he's on the right track to becomeing a champion. I wonder what Baldomir had accomplished by Saul's age.

Fighting an old but limited fighter like Baldomir will do little to tell us where Alvarez is at. I grow impatient at waiting for Alvarez to step up in competition. But at least he stays busy.

So I'm not the only one who hasn't been impressed by Canelo? He's good, but JCC sr. Greatness?!?!?!? I dont see it. He's got alot to show me before I sign off on something like that.

Well Baldi, is one tough SOB. So he's not just gonna melt away, but I think that Canelo will be too fast, too young for Tata. I think they have him in with Baldi, just for the constant pressure that Baldi is gonna supply, and the toughness of his chin, and will. It gets the young Alverez two or three lessons in one fight so to speak, gets him the rounds, and gets him the experiance, so that if you meets this type of opponent(albeit a younger and fresher one)he'll know just how to handle the situation. IMHO.
