I'm not sure when it started, but it seems even worse than the De La Hoya-Vargas rivalry. I remember reading an interview from a young Vargas and he didn't know De La Hoya personally, but had met him and he didn't like him and didn't want to be compared to him at all. This rivalry seems more personal.
Funny that they both still live in Oxnard and are trained by brothers. It's probably the reason they both aren't trained by Robert Garcia.
Unless Garcia has a reinforced iron chin, I can not see how he could take Ortiz' bombs and handle his lateral movement. That said, if he can take his punches, he will force Ortiz into a war of epic proportions and stop him. Definitely a grudge match that has made my Top 10 want to see fights.Comment

It sounds like Vargas, Rios, and co. hate on Victor for making Mexicans look bad by quitting against Maidana. Seems like another case of brown on brown gang violence.
I'm not judging though, just observing.
If this beef gets enough play this could be a nice little scrap in the future.

F a Catch weight. Rios came in at Junior Middleweight tonight. He can certainly fight Ortiz at 140.
