    Wlad v Brewster I

Was the ref right to call off the fight when he did? Wlad was all over the place and stunned, but he fell over after the bell at the end of the round, so it wasn't a knock down. Now I know the ref can stop the bout at any time but should he have not given Wlad the minute inbetween rounds to see if his daze clears and he's okay to continue the fight? It seems like Wlad is at least entitled to that. The minute inbetween rounds is to help the fighter recuperate from damage taken in the previous 3 minutes. So a sit down and some water for a minute might have improved Wlad's condition severely.

Surely the ref should have helped Wlad back to the corner and then at the start of the next round, made a decision on whether Wlad is in condition to continue. But Wlad was robbed of a minute to try and regain his balance, as so many fighters do after being dazed and hurt.

    Your thoughts?

Fair stoppage, Wlad was demolished that night, and his glass chin could take no more.

He took a look at his face and stopped the fight, which was the right thing to do. Wladimir was not only hurt, he was absolutely exhausted.

He already made a mistake in giving him a standing 8 count before, that was a clear stoppage.

Fair Stoppage. Wlad could barely stand.

The round was over and Wlad was standing. He survived the round, and Robert Byrd should have let him have the minute to recover.

If he were unable to continue early in the 6th round, Byrd should have then stopped the fight.

The referee was very hard on Wlad from the beginning of that fight, repeatedly admonishing him for the slightest reason during the first four rounds. I wonder if Byrd was being paid a little extra by Don King for his help?

Today in Peter-Wlad II, Robert Byrd will once again be the referee. That worries me a bit.

Wlad was more coherent than Ali was at the end of round 4 against the balding, weak, 180 lbs Henry Cooper.

Gotta love his corner trying to block the view as they administer the illegal substances to Ali.

Oh, and smelling salts were banned in England in 1953

If Wlad had smelling salts he would have beat Brewster that night.

I swear Wlad if he has been given a break he would have quit on his stool. he wouldnt have came for the next round. trust me that happens so many times. HWs get exhausted very speedy with that kind of fights.
