Honestly I don't think he's that bad, he may need a new trainer.

I can't see him beating most C level HWs. I don't know why Donnell Holmes pulled out of the fight, but I'm positive he would've got the W over Fury.

damn man I'm just going to have to accept it, my opinion and the general opinion on Boxingscene isn't ever the same, everyone hates Fury and discredit's him but what I saw tonight gave me hopes for the Heavyweights..

here's a guy who is 6'9 and releases his punches like a man 5'8, he has a immensely long reach making his jab a wonderful weapon, his combination punching was refreshing to see in an up and coming Heavyweight especially when he was up against an equally as strong threat..

the guy he fought is no bum, he may not have fought nobody of note but you can see that the undefeated Powers works hard, he was in shape and stood competitive..

they could have fed him someone who is 3-27 like they did with Chavez Jr by feeding him glorified sparring partners early on, they gave Fury a guy who was also undefeated with a decent punch and Tyson dominated him..

he got hit a lot too but honestly he needed a fight like that to test his mental strength because others would have let the mental weakness kick in and show too much respect to their opponent, Tyson let loose and landed awesome combo's that had me feeling awfully good about his potential..

Imagine if he had a better trainer and team overall? a better conditioning plan and training regiment? this guy can be something special if he does get that kind of treatment.

put him in there with Freddie Roach or Emmanuel Steward and you'll have a heavyweight champion in no time. the kid has A LOT of potential, his tools are top notch he just needs someone to finesse them for him..

as for now? he's got a lot of work to do, his conditioning is not on that upper echelon (<--I'm high lolz) level but the potential is definitely there and for now that is good enough for me because I know someone, sometime soon will see this kid and work on him properly..

So a MMA who had a messed up hand was a good indicator?

His being in MMA is not even note worthy to me because those are 2 different combat types that require much different skills. it's all about the individual and how real they are about Boxing.

there aren't lines around the corner of people wanting to become a fighter, we have a lot of up and coming fighters but there's always room for 1 more fighter in Boxing..

That being said if he can get the proper work done and dedicate himself to ONLY Boxing training he will be a legitimate threat.

KJ Noons was a Boxer 1st who moved on to MMA and did excellent there, Vitali Klitschko used to practice Sambo and kick Boxing.

if you have the will to train and get up for Boxing then you have the same chance of being successful as anyone else, Tyson Fury is no different..

can you imagine that though? this guy gets involved with Emmanuel Steward and he will be a monster, Steward has the remedy for him. even if not Steward there are plenty others who can bring the champion out of him.

don't let his MMA history fool you, it's a completely different thing just like how if Alistair Overeem loses in K-1 it wont affect his status in MMA because they are 2 completely different rule sets so it doesn't matter if Tyson Fury was a good/bad MMA fighter or that he even was an MMA fighter because none of what he does in MMA will save him in Boxing, he would have to fight like a Boxer to be successful here so he's just like any other fighter and should be treated as such..

So a big 6 foot 9 guy who threw some decent combo's in a very small ring could be the next guy?

He fought a guy who had a messed up hand. A guy who was there to be hit and on the ropes a lot.

A guy who basically threw a jab to run, but mainly had a elft that was obvious.

The jab is sluggish, and only hit a guy who was there to be hit everytime.

The MMA guys conditioning was very poor, he was bending over.

Tyson himself gassed after 7 rounds. Came in like a squared up caveman.

He is a KO waiting to happen.

I have also seen other fights, and he has had a very close fight with an old man and got a gift kind of.

He has heart and is game and exciting most of the time, but to be a lot better at world level? No.

                Just no.

I'm usually in agreement with you, but you're on one right now. Under no circumstance will Fury ever be a heavyweight champion.

I was thinking the same ****.

He's a solid poster and fairly neutral.

                    Maybe he likes 'Tyson'

Burner has a deep seated hatred for British people so his opinion should be taken in context.

Fury is not the best by any means but still better than any of the American scrubs in the Heavyweight division.
