  • Comments Thread For: Steward Compares Klitschko With Lennox Lewis and Ali

Emanuel Steward, trainer of many past and present world champions, compared the attributes of WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko to some of the fighters that he's worked with and been around, like Lennox Lewis and Muhammad Ali. no they dont. This is the worst state the heavies has ever been in. None of the klitchkos ever beat an elite fighter. Vitalis chance was against an old Lewis, and he still lost.
Steward is talking out his ass in this one

I really dont disagree with what Steward said.

Wlads jab is stronger, definitely, but Lewis is the more versatile fighter and much better overall.

That's a sweeping statement. The heavyweight division has been in a similar state to this many times, including during Joe Louis's "bum of the month club" run, during Marciano's era where his big fights were mostly against ageing vets like Louis, during parts of Larry Holmes's reign, etc. In fact, the times when the division has been full of stars and superfights is more the exception than the rule.

the heavyweight division has never been this bad. We literally have obese heavyweight stars these days, its disgusting. Ali fought people built like the klitchkos on the regular. The way to have a great heavyweight division, is to have fighters IN SHAPE. Just look at the current champs, **** say what u want about haye but dude looks like a body builder

Your right it's been worse than this before. Most of the HW's today actually know how to box. Something most old school HW's could'nt do. Just because they are'nt exciting does'nt mean that Most of the HW's of today would'nt beat the heavies of the past. The size of the fighters and the knowledge that we have about the sport today would actually beat alot of the past greats. Louis fought guys who had no boxing ability. Marciano's opponents could'nt box and most of Ali's opponents could'nt box. Most of the HW greats would'nt even be HW's today. People need to think realistic about this and get the story book endings out of your heads.

                  STEWARD has officially lost it!!!!!!!

This dude is getting out of control with his COMMENTS!!!!! HOLYFIELD is a TOP 10 LIGHT/CRUISER/ and HEAVYWEIGHT! MICHAEL MOORE was up there in terms of natural talent and strength also. LEWIS is his most accomplished HEAVY, no doubt but HOLYFIELD is the best of the bunch in terms of achievement in the ring. He is being BIAS on this one! "Better Legs" hahahaha! HOLYFIELD has some of the best legs in heayweight history. How are W.K. legs better? LEWIS had better legs also. They weren't the best, but they were better than W.K. he is an over-rated plotter! Over-rated heavy stuck in an era of not so REAL fighters.

The legs comment confused me too. Wlad has been knocked down 5 times under Emanuel Steward, Lennox was only down once and that was in 6000 feet of altitude. Economy is bad....Manny needs a raise.
