You're being ridiculous. 50/50 means 50% of the purse. Haye admits he was offered 50% of the purse to fight the man he'd been calling out for two years, and he turned the offer down to fight a journeyman instead. That's really pathetic. Haye's pathetic posturing has achieved the impossible - it has made all neutral fans into Klitschko supporters. Only incurable fanboys and people who are ignorant about what has happened have any respect for the man now.

If Haye decided to sign with ITV for less money than Sky pay him, in order that 10 million plus fans could watch each of his fights instead of only 1 million, and if, in doing so, he made boxing into a mainstream sport in the UK like it used to be, and like it still is in Germany, I suppose you'd criticise him for accepting a piss-poor contract? If so you are simply not a boxing fan - end of story. But if you would praise him in that scenario, as all genuine boxing fans would do, then you're the most appalling practitioner of double standards that I've ever come across.

What we do know is that Wlad tried to make the fight. When it didn't work out he tried to face the next best opponent. When that guy refused to fight him, he faced the next best guy, a boxer who, while not great, has knocked him down 3 times in the past. Haye chose to fight someone who lost to a cab driver not that long ago.

We also know that Haye kept his mouth shut until after Wlad and Vitali both signed to fight other people. Why not speak sooner? Actually, the only thing I remember Haye saying a few months ago when Wlad called him out is that he'd changed his mind and wanted to face Vitali instead of Wlad.

Haye is just playing the risk/reward game. The worst opponent realistically possible for the most money, while talking as if you want to face the best.
Nice summary. Except that we do know, because Haye admits he was offered 50/50 with no rematch clause and turned it down.

You're presuming that he's serious about fighting and possibly beating Wlad. I no longer think he has any belief that he can beat Wlad, and I'm not convinced that he plans to ever fight him.

People please stop feeding Timba, or he'll just keep trolling. It's obvious this fight is a farce, but I hope it backfires on Haye and Audley somehow KOs him, I'm tired of that idiot holding the belt hostage like Valuev did.

Vitali is the easier one, Haye if he does plan to eventually fight one of the Klits will fight Vitali over Wlad.

If he does plan to, then you're right, it'll be Vitali - and he'll spin it out as long as he can because Vitali is slowing down all the time.

Exactly like Valuev did, as the poster said. He fights meaningless mandatories against has-beens, and voluntaries against never-will-be's. Just like Valuev did. Talks for two whole years about how he's going to save the division and smash both brothers, but whenever he's offered the chance to fight either of them, makes weak excuses and runs for the hills.

I've just glanced through the article itself and was flabbergasted by a lot of it, the above sentence being typical. Audley has never fought anyone approaching world class before, despite having been a pro for 10 years; and Lewis never came close to even fighting cab drivers, never mind losing to them. Lewis was ranked #3 in the world coming into the Holyfield fight, whereas Audley is ranked #42.

And that's just funny. If Haye shared your belief, he'd be fighting one of them by now, instead of a man ranked #42 in the world.

I'm not sure what Haye's plans are. I don't think he is as big of a coward as people are making him out to be. I have always seen him as a motivated guy that will come good on what he says eventually.

He says that he wants retire next year so he has to fight the K bros soon. I just don't see him retiring without fighting them. That would be a big shocker for me!
