Who is the youngest champion ever?

This question has two parts...someone at work said Vargas claims he is the youngest champ ever on his website...I don't think that is rght.

    Anyway, to the question...

Who is the youngest title holder ever (any belt that is WBC, IBF, or WBA)?

    and...

Who is the youngest "real" champ ever (either by Ring or unification)?

My guess is Mike Tyson...wasn't he 20? Also, throw some notable young champions in this thread and state what title they had (Ring, WBC, or otherwise).

I thought it was Wilfred Benitez. He was 17 years old when he beat Cervantes...so yeah I think it's him.

Indeed it is. However, most latino fighters get started at a very early age due to the regulations the south of the u.s. border....

Mike Tyson was the youngest man to win the heavyweight title at age 20. He broke the record held by Floyd Patterson who won it at 21 or 22. Both men were Cus D'amato fighters, totally different personalitys though. Patterson might have been the kindest fighter of all time.

Juan Diaz is also a very young champion. If I am not mistaken he is 21 now but one his championship belt at the age of 20.
